E.R. Chulie Ulloa graduated from UC San Diego with degrees
in Physiology & Neuroscience and Psychology. She
completed a senior thesis in the field of neuroscience
investigating the mirror neuron system and its implications
in neurocognitive functions. After college, she spent
2 years in Argentina on Fulbright and NIH-Fogarty
Fellowships examining brain areas that could be
non-invasively stimulated to enhance motor recovery after
brain injury. She subsequently began her medical
training at Stanford University School of Medicine, where
she completed an NIH-funded Master of Science in
Microbiology and Immunology, and worked with the CDC as a
Hubert Global Health Fellow in Kenya. Her research
focused on the mechanisms of protective mucosal immunity
induced by autoimmune conditions, infections and vaccines;
with a particular focus on identifying tissue-specific,
B-cell homing receptors as therapeutic targets. |
