Morgan Pence hails from
Aledo, IL and
received her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois,
Urbana-Champaign where she
majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology. While an undergraduate
HHMI fellow at UIUC, she worked at the university's Beckman
Institute in the laboratory of Yuqing Yi, where she studied motor
control and neutrotransmission defects of early-onset dystonia using
knockout mouse models. Morgan's current research focuses on the molecular
mechanisms by which the pathogen Group A Streptococcus subverts soluble and
cellular mediators of host innate defense. |
