Ruth Siew Ruth graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with Biochemistry and Chemistry degrees. She worked on a research project to characterize hyaluronic acid hydrogel scaffolds to aid in bone regeneration. She completed her medical training at the University of Washington School of Medicine and went on to complete her residency at Rady Children’s Hospital / University of California San Diego. Ruth is currently a Pediatric Pulmonary Fellow at Rady’s and has joined the Nizet Lab for the research component of her fellowship. Her research will look at antibiotic synergy with antimicrobial peptides with a focus on MRSA,  Pseudomonas and Burkholderia along with other organisms that affect the pediatric pulmonary population, including cystic fibrosis patients

With a emphasis on understanding how immunologic interactions influence antibiotic efficacy, Ruth's research is supported by the UCSD Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology T32 Training Program sponsored by the NIH/NICHD.
