Tina Tran
Tina Tran is originally from Vietnam and later moved to the United States where  she completed high school and received her undergraduate degree at UCSD, majoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology.  As an undergraduate, she studied the phylogeny of marine microbes under the supervision of Dr. Paul Jensen at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO).

Tina is working on our collaborative project to discover novel antimicrobials from the largely unexplored natural resource of deep sea actinomycete bacteria.  This project is jointly supervised by Dr. Nizet and Dr. Mary Hensler, and represents a close collaboration with the laboratory of Bill Fenical at SIO.
