Tricia Lenhart-Pendergrass Tricia is from Seattle, where she completed her bachelor’s of science degree at Seattle University. She earned both her MD and her PhD in cell and molecular physiology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She then completed her pediatrics residency and pediatric pulmonology fellowship at the University of Colorado Denver, before joining the faculty at UCSD. Her research is focused on innate immune interactions with nontuberculous mycobacteria.

In particular, she is interested in defining mechanistic aspects of neutrophil-M. avium interactions, with the goal of identifying host susceptibility factors to M. avium pulmonary disease in persons with and without cystic fibrosis. Her work has a particular focus on the role of complement pathways in the neutrophil response to M. avium. Clinically, she cares for children with general pulmonary conditions such as asthma and chronic lung disease of prematurity, as well as children with cystic fibrosis.

Tricia is a scholar in the UC San Diego K12 Program of Excellence in Glycosciences.
