Twenty lucky members and  friends of the laboratory once again experienced a unbelievable 24-hour, 200-mile roundtrip  odyssey to the warm waters offshore of Baja California aboard the Daiwa Pacific, owned and operated by our friends Ken and Jayne Baruch.  As always, our captain Ken delivered us repeatedly to the tuna.  Everybody reeled in at least two big fish.  Total haul on the journey was 91 tuna (56 albacore, 10 yellowfin, 25 skipjack).  Champion anglers were Toby Lawrence, Keith Westerman, and Jason Stannard, each of whom landed eight tuna.  George Liu took the pot with a ~35 pound albacore.  Our many thanks to Ken and Jayne and their fantastic crew, to legendary sashimi and sushi chef Aki Saitoh, and to "Sweetgrass" Miller for his Louisiana-style seared tuna recipe.
